Fix Outlook.com birthday calendar

I have ben really annoyed with the Outlook.com birthday calandar becase it has a lot of double or even triple posts. Well, I found a quick fix. Just delete the birthday calendar and the add it again. This will make Outlook.com rebuild your birthday calendar based on your addressbook.

I have had a whole bunch of services connected to my email, which made my birthday calendar have many double entries. I have since removed these connections but the calendar entries persisted. Now, having gone through the steps mentioned above, I now have a new and actually useful birthday calendar. Happy days.

Outlook.com: Send from address

CaptureOne of my favorite features in Outlook.com is the ability to add a POP3 mail address to send from. I use my domain mail a lot, and even though I could use custom domains to manage my mail, I have decided to keep my original Outlook.com address.

You can now send through your domain provider’s servers, meaning you get the annoying “Sent on behalf of” in the email header. So, I set up my domain mail as my default mail address, and it turns out that Outlook.com will always use this, even though you use Outlook.com on your Windows Phone. When I open the mail app, which is associated with my Outlook.com address, it will actually send from me@mydomain.me, which is a really nice detail.

Outlook.com crashing Outlook

Outlook.comIt seems like the latest update to Outlook.com crashes Outlook on Windows 8. As soon as I remove my Outlook.com account it works fine – except for the less than stellar IMAP support implementation. Does anybody have a fix for this? I tried @outlook.com on Twitter and they suggested creating a new profile, which seems to do trick, at least for now. But it seems as if it’s the calendar update that messed with the EAS protocol.

Udate: Turns out my domain provider changed the IMAP server, so after I reconfigured the mail settings and rotted the inbox folder everyting is all good.
