Considering Outlook.com Premium

It’s the weirdest thing. I don’t really send or receive a lot of personal email anymore. Most of my communication goes via Facebook messenger or Google Hangouts; not even Skype is something I use a lot of these days, with the exception of Skype for Business of course. Opt-in new Outlook.com

Outlook.com is moving to the office365 infrastructure. If you care about these things I came across an opt-in option, which will get you on the waitlist. I am not sure if it’s US only thing, but it apeears ok from Europe. Check it out here: http://mail.live.com/default.aspx?owaoptin=1

Outlook.com supports IMAP – now

The Outlook.com team just announced IMAP support. Personally I use EAS for my syncing purposes, but I know my wife will be happy that she can get Outlook.com in her OSX mail app. CalDAV and CardDAV are not supported yet, but I have a feeling it’s coming eventually though. The settings are: Incoming IMAP mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com Incoming IMAP mail server port: 993 Encryption: SSL SMTP Outgoing SMTP mail server: smtp-mail.outlook.com Outgoing SMTP mail server port: 587 Encryption: TLS Check out the Reddit AMA here.
